Parks and open space improve our physical and psychological health, strengthen our communities, and make our cities and neighborhoods more attractive places to live and work. Numerous studies have shown the social, environmental, economic, and health benefits parks bring to a community and its people. The Peoria Park District invites you to visit one of our many parks and places to enjoy the great outdoors! Parks in the Peoria Park District are open from dawn to dusk, with some amenities open until 11pm.

Becker Park

Bicycle Safety Town

Many kids dream about the day they can get behind the wheel and out on the road.  Until that time comes, did you know that Peoria Park District offers a place for them to “drive” around on their bicycles?  Bicycle Safety Town offers a unique experience for bikers of all ages and skill levels to learn and play on nearly 4,000 feet of one-way streets, curves, traffic signals, overpasses, and more!  Bring your helmets on and enjoy the ride.

Located just south of Detweiller, Bielfeldt is a great spot for a family picnic or a lunchtime walk.  Bielfeldt Park has a 0.25 mile loop trail which is paved and fairly level.

Bradley Park

This large park, located adjacent to Bradley University, was established in the late 19th century. Filled with amenities that will appeal to dog lovers and sports fans alike, the park traverses a high bluff woodland that grades down into the floodplain of Dry Run Creek. Camp Wokanda

If you are looking for a great facility for your group’s next camping outing, look no further!  Acquired from W.D. Boyce Council of the Scouts BSA of America, Camp Wokanda encompasses over 300 acres of woodland area with a lake for fishing and various camping amenities.  Whether you like to rough it or camp with a little more comfort, Camp Wokanda will fit the bill!  Within the Camp there is a dining hall, sleeping cabins, program buildings, and more.  The Camp also offers programming such as naturalist tours and environmental educations for interested groups.

Wokanda is a great location for a family reunion, wedding or simply a weekend unplugged.

Detweiller Marina

Effective January 1, 2019, the marina located at the Detweiller Playground at the foot of Caroline Street in Peoria will be closed.  The property surrounding the marina, including the Rock Island/Pimiteoui Trail and North Park, will continue to be open to the public for its primary purpose of access to the river for recreation and enjoyment as specified in Tommy Detweiller’s 1947 will and the Articles of Incorporation for the Detweiller Playground Trust that manages this property.
