World Lion Day

Join us at Peoria Zoo as we celebrate World Lion Day, a global day of awareness dedicated to protecting one of Africa’s most iconic species.
Visit our African lion habitat to learn more about Lizzy, our resident lioness, and discover how modern zoos contribute to the conservation of lions both in human care and in the wild. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy engaging educational activities while learning about the challenges lions face, including habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and declining wild populations
Activities include:
Educational talks with Zoo staff and volunteers
Interactive conservation stations
Lion-themed crafts and family activities
