Pool Rules by Age & Supervision – Know When You Can Swim!

• Families, Supervised Youth Ages 0-17*, Adults: 12-3pm
• 12+,Unsupervised, 11 and under Supervised*: 3-5pm
• *The parent/guardian (18 years or older) is responsible for all children they bring in with them. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times

Pool Guidelines & Rules:

• All swimmers must shower before entering the pools.
• Children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18+ or older.
• Children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water and within arm’s reach.
• Only Coast Guard approved Type II or III life jackets may be worn:
  • a. No water wings, floating swim suits, inner tubes, or other flotation devices.
  • b. Lifejackets are not allowed off the diving board or down the slide.
  • c. Boogie boards are not allowed in Gwynn Family Aquatic Center.
• All children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper or tight-fitting rubber pants when in the pool. Cloth diapers or regular disposable diapers are not allowed unless a suit with elastic leg holes is worn over them.
• SWIM SUITS REQUIRED TO ENTER THE WATER. No T-Shirts, street clothes, mesh shorts, leotards, or sports bras allowed in the pools. Swim shirts and swim jackets are allowed.
• No boisterous play. This includes dunking, sitting on shoulders, carrying on backs, and excessive splashing.
• No goggles, lifejackets or glasses on the slide or diving board.
• No glass in the pool area. No alcoholic beverages or vaping/smoking on premises. If staff believe patrons have been drinking, you will be asked to leave.
• Keep food in the designated food areas.
• People with bandages or casts will be asked to refrain from entering the water.
• If you are asked to leave by the pool staff please do so quickly.

Diving Board Rules

• Head and neck injuries can result from improper diving.
• Use caution when diving.
• Only one person on the diving board at a time.
• Do not double bounce on the diving board.
• Do not move the fulcrum.
• Make sure the diving area is clear of swimmers before diving.
• Wait for the previous diver to reach the ladder before diving.
• Dive straight off the board. Jumping, diving, and front flips are allowed.
• Back flips are prohibited.
• Do not swim under the diving board.
• Report any safety hazards to agency staff.
• After entering the water, swim immediately to the nearest ladder or wall.

Water Slide Rules

• Riders must be at least 48 inches tall.
• Only one rider is permitted at a time.
• Riders must enter and exit the slide feet first only.
• Standing, stopping, flipping, chain riding, or sliding headfirst is prohibited.
• Hands must remain at sides or on lap at all times.
• Diving from the end of the flume or pool deck is prohibited.
• Pool depth at the slide exit is 3 feet.
