Protection of park facilities and equipment falls under the responsibility of the Peoria Park District Police Department, which consists of professionally trained police officers operating in a distinct role. Peoria Park District police officers must successfully complete the state mandatory basic training requirement prescribed by the Illinois Training and Standard Board.  The Peoria Park District Police balance traditional law enforcement and environmental stewardship.  They work to keep our parks and facilities safe for our community by focusing on building relationships with users and neighbors.  As fully commissioned officers, they also support other local law enforcement across our community.  Peoria Park District Police also utilize local neighborhood associations aimed at reducing vandalism and criminal activity in parks.

The Peoria Police Department takes its responsibility and commitment to citizens very seriously. The department thoroughly investigates every complaint it receives against police personnel. All investigations are conducted in a fair and expeditious manner in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
