Parks and open space improve our physical and psychological health, strengthen our communities, and make our cities and neighborhoods more attractive places to live and work. Numerous studies have shown the social, environmental, economic, and health benefits parks bring to a community and its people. The Peoria Park District invites you to visit one of our many parks and places to enjoy the great outdoors! Parks in the Peoria Park District are open from dawn to dusk, with some amenities open until 11pm.

Located between Old Galena Rd and Route 29, next to the Mossville Caterpillar plant, this complex is the focal point for all soccer played in the District.
Recently renovated and ready for play, 18-hole Newman Golf Course is a favorite of Peoria area golfers! Newman offers 6,497 yards of challenging steep terrain, moderate ravines, deep bunkers and numerous mature trees. The Noble Center is not only home to the Peoria Park District’s administration offices, but also offers opportunities for rentals such as an auditorium with a stage–ideal for weddings and special events. It also houses the District’s Book Court and has meeting rooms that are used for fitness classes and other District programs.

Even when the weather outside isn’t frightful, the Peoria Park District offers indoor ice skating for people of all ages at Owens Recreation Center! Owens Center features two full-size NHL rinks which are used for private rentals, classes, and public open skate times. Public skate passes and skate rental are available!

The Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum is a hands-on, interactive space featuring six exhibits allowing children to play, explore, imagine, and create. Splash in the water table, mold with kinetic sand, send balls through wind tubes, make your own constructions in Real Tools, and more! The PlayHouse was created in collaboration with the Junior League of Peoria and Peoria Zoological Society, and opened in 2015. It is located in historic Glen Oak Park, near Peoria Zoo and Luthy Botanical Garden, providing a full-day destination for families in our region.
The Peoria RiverFront really does have something for everyone, especially during the summer season! The Peoria Park District is excited that the RiverFront has become a prime location for outdoor concerts, festivals, and gatherings. Come explore one of the many cultural festivals held on the Riverfront, from Mardi Gras in May to Soul Fest to Erin Feis! Whatever fits your fancy, the RiverFront is sure to have something fun for you and your family or friends this summer.
Lions and tigers and giraffes, oh my! The Peoria Park District is proud to have the Peoria Zoo as one of the great facilities available to people of all ages who live, work, and play in Peoria. The Zoo is home to unique animals from all over the world and is open to the public 360 days a year. Even during the winter, animal lovers can visit the Zoo to see Amur tigers and Sichuan takins frolicking in the snow! The Zoo also offers many neat behind-the-scene tours and is a great place to host birthday parties, weddings, and corporate events.
The Proctor Recreation Center is a great place for the whole family to hang out all year round! The Proctor Rec Center has something for everyone in your family featuring two gyms, an auditorium, lounge area, fitness room with weights, arts and crafts room, game room, outdoor water splash pad, and much more. The Rec Center even offers after-school programs and fitness classes! With all of its amenities, the Proctor Recreation Center also makes an excellent option for birthday parties.
In partnership wth OSF, the Peoria Park District’s RiverPlex Recreation & Wellness Center is your one-stop shop for sports and fitness fun in Peoria! Located right on the Peoria Riverfront, the RiverPlex boasts an indoor cycling studio, an indoor family aquatic center, rock climbing wall, 1/8 mile running track, a 15,900 square foot fitness floor, and more! The RiverPlex also offers classes for all ages, preferences, and skill levels including water Zumba, Pilates, and personal training options. With all its many amenities, the RiverPlex would be a great place your next class trip, youth group outing, or birthday party!
Narrow, informal paths lace the site, along with a substantial segment of the better-developed Illinois River Bluff Trail. For the ecologically-oriented visitor, the most intriguing component of Robinson Park is its 151-acre nature preserve, which consists of glacial drift hill prairies, and oak woodlands along the ridges and valleys.
