Dance – Adult

Our adult dance programs are a great way to meet new people, get your aerobic exercise and have fun at the same time!  No matter what your taste, we have an adult dance program to suit your fancy.  Ballroom, swing, line, belly, salsa or tap…choose what’s right for you.

Our dance programs are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

Environmental Education Programs

The Peoria Park District works to increase understanding about the importance of conservation and stewardship of our environment… one way to do this is to provide quality education opportunities.  For your convenience, the District hosts environmental education opportunities at multiple, easy-to-access locations, including Forest Park Nature Center, Camp Wokanda, W. Moonlight Coalition for Adult Learning

The Moonlight Coalition for Adult Learning (“Moonlight”) was originally established in 1994 to provide organized activities for young members of the community to combat juvenile delinquency and prevent crime. Organized sports like basketball were combined with GED instruction as a way to break down barriers for those who thought formal education wasn’t accessible or “cool”. Today, Moonlight focuses on providing easy access to GED education for those seeking to earn their high school diploma. In direct contrast to other programs that only take new students at the beginning of each semester and that are located outside of local communities, Moonlight focuses on providing accessible, open education opportunities, reaching those in need of support in the communities where they live and work.

Pickleball

If you are looking to play a sport that is good exercise and easy to learn, pickleball may be the answer!  The Peoria Park District provides a variety of indoor and outdoor opportunities to learn and play the game. Plus, pickleball is a great social outlet!  Pickleball is offered at Charter Oak Park, Franciscan Recreation Center, Lakeview Recreation Center, Owens Recreation Center (summer months only) and RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center.
