Arts & Culture

The Peoria Park District has you covered with its many Arts and Culture activities!  We invite you to join us for activities ranging from cake decorating at Lakeview Recreation Center to Native American beading at Camp Wokanda.

Book Court

The Noble Center Book Court carries on a tradition started by the Lakeview Museum… used books at affordable prices.

Dance – Adult

Our adult dance programs are a great way to meet new people, get your aerobic exercise and have fun at the same time!  No matter what your taste, we have an adult dance program to suit your fancy.  Ballroom, swing, line, belly, salsa or tap…choose what’s right for you.

Our dance programs are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

Dance – Youth

If you have kids, you may be looking for a great way to channel their seemingly boundless energy…Dance is a great way to get your kids (even the littlest ones!) involved and active.  Dancing is a highly physical activity, and kids who take dance lessons regularly should expect to see a significant improvement in their overall physical health.

The Peoria Park District offers a progressive program of dance instruction, starting with children as young as two years old. We also offer a full regimen of adult classes, too!

And no matter your age or budget, our sessions are flexible and affordable.

Check out our full class list here and sign up today.

Our dance programs are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

Environmental Education Programs

The Peoria Park District works to increase understanding about the importance of conservation and stewardship of our environment… one way to do this is to provide quality education opportunities.  For your convenience, the District hosts environmental education opportunities at multiple, easy-to-access locations, including Forest Park Nature Center, Camp Wokanda, W. H. Sommer Park  and Tawny Oaks Field Stations…

Park District’s Theater Education for Children

In collaboration with Peoria area schools, the Park District operates Theatre Education for Children (TEC) which is a 10 week program offered twice during the school year.  The Fall semester focuses on creative dramatic and acting skills while the Winter/Spring semester focuses on play production.  A short play is presented at the school in April each year.

Our drama programs are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
