DESCRIPTION:Due to the weather\, this event has been canceled.  \nStart your Parks on Tap adventure with a guided hike along the scenic Pimiteoui Trail at Grandview Drive. Led by Forest Park Nature Center staff\, this approximately 70- to 90-minute round-trip hike will take participants from Lookout #1 down the trail to the hill prairie and back\, with a brief rest stop along the way. Enjoy beautiful views\, learn about the area’s unique natural features\, and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts before Parks on Tap begins. \nThis is a free\, drop-in hike. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver before joining. The hike begins at 10:00 a.m. at Lookout #1 on Grandview Drive and returns in time for Parks on Tap\, which runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

SUMMARY:Peoria Irish Fest
DESCRIPTION:The last weekend in August every year\, the St. Patrick Society of Peoria partners with the Peoria Park District to host the Peoria Irish Fest on the Peoria RiverFront. Over the years\, Peoria Irish Fest (Erin Feis) has grown from a Sunday afternoon picnic to a 3-Day Irish Festival.  Although the venue has changed and the scope of activities and entertainment has grown exponentially since that first picnic\, we still provide a time and place for friends and families to join together and share their interest in Irish traditions.\n\n\nThe first day of Peoria Irish Fest is called “The Gathering\,” the second is “The Day\,” and the last is “The Scattering.”  During the three days of the event\, attendees can enjoy a variety of musicians from around Peoria\, the country\, or the world\, playing both traditional and more modern Irish music\, Irish dancers from a variety of Irish Dance Schools\, and learn more about Irish traditions in our Cultural Village. \n\nAlso featured during the festival\, the Ancient Athletic sporting competition is conducted featuring the Sheaf Toss\, Caber Toss\, Stone Put\, Hammer Throw\, Braemar Stone/Open Stone—heavyweight for distance and lightweight for distance. On Sunday\, attendees can participate in a Catholic Mass where canned goods are collected for local food pantries.\n\nHosted by the St. Patrick Society of Peoria and the Peoria Park District\, this fest offers food\, drinks\, music\, and more all set along the scenic riverfront. Kids 12 and under get in free\, and kilts are always encouraged!
