Concert: The Way Down Wanderers
June 7 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm$10
Mark your calendars and plan to join the party on June 7th at CEFCU Center Stage. We’re welcoming some of Peoria’s greatest talent to the stage, Harvest Sons and The Blank Stairs. This will be an all ages show.
The Way Down Wanderers:
The Way Down Wanderers intricate, hypnotic rhythms call to mind ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ more than bluegrass traditional.” – Rolling Stone Country
“Somewhere on the spectrum between Old Crow Medicine Show and Mumford and Sons lies the spirited bluegrass-based artistry of The Way Down Wanderers. It is joyful, daring and occasionally sublime.” – Associated Press
“In addition to songwriting skills wholly impressive for their youth, and their equally admirable musicianship, there is a charisma in their sound accompanied by a positivity that proves infectious.” – No Depression
“The Way Down Wanderers is a group who “demonstrates it’s arrived with firm mastery of its own vision” on the band’s sophomore release, “illusions.” – Pop Matters
Harvest Sons has been working on putting the finishing touches on Flat Black Sessions, Volume 2; the band’s second release since their Fall 2018 release of Flat Black, Vol. 1. The band has planned the release of Flat Black, Volume 2 for Summer 2019 and plans to “weekend warrior” the Midwest in support of the two EPs. A Rust belt frame of mind and Midwest work ethic bleed into Vol. 2’s songs, written by Seth Cocquit, Nik Grafelman and Elyse Wiley. Volume 2 offers up a strong Americana-Folk-Rock base with Pop undertones, and offers long time fans plenty of surprises.
The Blank Stairs:
The Blank Stairs have had a blast playing at various venues and festivals across the area. We have performed at the Heart of Illinois Fair, Thunder Valley Jam Sessions, Peoria Riverfront Market, The Peoria Chiefs game, Peoria Food Truck Festival, Washington Fine Arts Festival, block parties, church events, and more. We have been featured as a musical guest on Bradley University’s student run news show. Our original songs “Call Again Please” and “The Weekend” were played on WWCT 99.9’s Local Music Showcase!
